Responsible for being a key support for participants in this U.S. Department of Labor demonstration grant focused on providing at-risk youth access to careers in emergency services and criminal justice. Provide orientation, screening, intake and assessment for potential program participants. Develop individual career-focused service plans for participants. Provide supportive counseling to ensure adequate program attendance and to resolve any discipline or communication issues. Identify students’ supportive services needs, provide related counseling as required, and make appropriate referrals. Maintain counseling records, record related assessment data, and other necessary data entry and record-keeping functions. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with one to three years of experience required. Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, counseling or related field preferred. Experience in counseling adults or out of school youth preferred. Must have excellent organizational, management and communication skills. Demonstrated familiarity with computers and automated systems. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
