Department: Head Start & Children's Services - Central
Responsible for assisting the Head Start Deputy Directors in the day-to-day activities and in all administrative/clerical functions and general office procedures. Assist in research and analysis related to program activities, reports and other required documentation. Work closely with all Head Start components and other departments to answer and follow through with requests as necessary. Develop cooperative working relationships with other agency staff to facilitate the effective and efficient functioning of the department and the agency as a whole. Maintain and monitor a comprehensive record keeping system through documents and database systems. Maintain and document on-going contact with local programs. Attend required meetings and trainings on and off site. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a social science or related field, with one to three years of administrative experience required. This is an experienced level assistant position which provides direct support for assigned Deputy Directors. Excellent written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills. Demonstrated keyboarding skills, computer literacy and expertise with applications such as Microsoft Office and Google products. Willingness to engage in ongoing staff development to expand professional skills. Knowledge of neighborhoods served by programs and city-wide services relevant to the program’s population. Bilingual skills and the ability to translate as necessary preferred. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
