Provide training, technical assistance and guidance to parents, staff and interns to ensure that they fully understand and support the goals of the Nutrition component. Design, maintain, monitor and evaluate quality control systems for all programs. Ensure that the nutrition program meets standards determined by federal, state, and ABCD Head Start and Early Head Start Performance Standards. Counsel and/or refer parents to services to help them meet the special nutritional needs of their children. Work with local colleges, universities and agencies to develop additional resources for the Nutrition Component. Establish, maintain, and update a resource library of nutrition related materials and assist local staff in developing similar resources. Plan, monitor, and evaluate the daily routine of Dietetic interns and Nutrition students. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition, dietetics, or related field required. Registered Dietitian preferred. Minimum of one to three years of experience in community nutrition, with at least one year’s emphasis on the nutritional needs of infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children required. Knowledge of area nutrition service agencies and the ability to develop linkages with these resources preferred. Proven ability in developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs for persons with varying abilities and levels of experience required. Must have good computer, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
