Department: Child Care Choices of Boston
Responsible for providing high quality consultation, support and consumer education to parents of children with special needs. Provide direct assistance to customers of all abilities, income, cultural, religious, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds seeking consumer education regarding early education through the Child Care Choices of Boston (CCCB) information and referral telephone hotline, individual counseling, written materials and community educational and outreach. Provide daily telephone “hotline” consultation with parents regarding child care and information and referral services. Perform data entry and other related tasks to assist with the maintenance of community, provider and consumer databases. Assist in ongoing production and distribution of written outreach materials. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, social work or related field required with one to three years related experience. Knowledge of early childhood development is required. Related work experience in community outreach and program promotion helpful. Must be willing to travel locally. Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle large volumes of paperwork. Familiarity with Microsoft Office systems and other automated systems. Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends as required. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
