Department: Head Start & Children’s Services – Region 6 EPS
Supports the Region 6 EPS coaching team members as they work with providers and educators in the region to support program quality. Facilitate the intake process for programs and educators requesting EPS coaching support, including face to face meetings at program sites. Provide direct coaching to programs and educators in their area(s) of expertise. Provide on-site coaching for Region 6 providers and educators. Stay current on updates and changes in the Massachusetts Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) and in accreditation systems (NAEYC, NAFCC, NAA). Gather and track data in accordance with an identified evaluation plan and for the purposes of EEC quarterly reporting and generate the necessary documentation to meet EEC reporting requirements. Contact community partners to access external support when needed. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, or related field, such as education, social or behavioral science, and a certificate from MA DEC as a Lead Teacher Preschool, Lead Teacher Infant/Toddler and/or Director I (or equivalent) required. Minimum of two years of experience teaching young children plus two years of supervisory experience of early childhood program staff required. Experience in direct coaching is also required. Demonstrated knowledge of child development and current research-based pedagogy, curriculum resources, appropriate classroom management techniques for preschool and/or infant/toddler classrooms and reflective practices in mentor/coaching. Ability and willingness to become trained in the Environment Rating Scales (ECERS, ITERS, and FCCERS). Must have a valid driver’s license, and the ability and willingness to travel on a regular basis. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Please note: This position is part-time for twenty (20) hours per week and is a grant funded position through June 30, 2018 with the possibility of renewal.
