Assist Teachers with the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team. Provide the children with a nurturing, safe and healthy environment and individualized learning experiences to help them develop socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally in achieving social competency. Participate in the development of and implementation of developmentally-appropriate lesson plans and individualized activities. Participate in a minimum of two home visits and three parent/teacher conferences per family per year. Participate in the development and implementation of written Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) for the children with special needs. Maintain the EEC requirements including child to staff ratios, classroom supervision, etc. Attend meetings as necessary. Provide classroom coverage as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum of a high school diploma/GED, with up to twelve months of relevant experience working with preschool children required. Must have an active Preschool Child Development Associate Credential or matriculated in a degree program with 15 or more college credits towards a degree in Early Childhood or related field, including child growth and development required. EEC preschool teacher certified preferred. Good interpersonal skills required. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner. Possess bilingual ability where appropriate. Must be able to engage in physical activities while attending to the needs of the center’s children and/or moving classroom equipment. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
