The PreKindergarten Lead Teacher is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the Education Component objectives for the Building Blocks, Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learners (CSEFEL), and Opening the World of Learning (OWL) curriculum, and, in collaboration with the Education Supervisor, for the coaching, training, and technical assistance of Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and classroom volunteers at an assigned site. He/she will participate and engage fellow teaching staff in trainings around each curriculum, including demonstrating commitment to trainings outside of regular work hours, and will apply and analyze new teaching practices with the support of the coach. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field required, and one plus years experience with preschool children for Head Start required. Master’s Degree preferred. EEC Director I or II certified preferred. Good interpersonal skills; work cooperatively as a member of a teaching team, with other program staff and parents. Engages in ongoing staff development to expand professional skills. Be able to lift and move pre-school aged children and respond to children in case of an emergency in order to ensure safety. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
