Provide support to fathers and father-figures of children enrolled in ABCD Head Start & Children’s Services to enhance their parenting skills and increase their capacity to be engaged in the social-emotional and developmental growth of their children. Responsibilities include conducting outreach and recruitment to engage male figures in programming and events, as well as planning and facilitating groups and trainings. Position entails providing families with referrals, services and linkages to community resources, parenting education, mentoring and individual and group support, as well as performing data entry related to male engagement programming. Responsible for establishing and maintaining contact with service providers who work in the areas of fatherhood, male engagement, abuse prevention, parenting education, and basic needs in an effort to enhance the services already provided on site. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education or related field, and one to three years of experience working with males/fathers in a social service setting required. Experience conducting community outreach, providing parent support and education, and facilitation of groups preferred. This position requires periodic travel throughout Massachusetts (predominantly in the Greater Boston area and surrounding communities). Must have knowledge of and sensitivity to the educational and socioeconomic needs of the children and families served, as well as excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
