Responsible for assisting the Head Start Deputy Directors in the day-to-day activities, and clerical functions of the Deputy Directors’ offices. Assist in handling specialized office support as well as manage and complete special projects as needed. Develop cooperative working relationships with other agency staff to facilitate the effective and efficient functioning of the department and the agency as a whole. Assist in research and analysis related to program activities, reports and other required documentation. Participate in design, updating and distribution of forms, policies, procedures and newsletters. Maintain and monitor a comprehensive record keeping system through documents and database systems. Maintain and document on-going contact with local programs. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum of an Associate Degree in a social science or related field, with one to three years of administrative experience required. This is an experienced level assistant position which provides direct support for assigned Deputy Directors. Knowledge of neighborhoods served by programs and city-wide services relevant to the programs’ population. Engage in ongoing staff development to expand professional skills. Behave in a professional manner and successfully work as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Possess bilingual ability where appropriate. Must be able to balance and prioritize work load and have strong time management skills. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
